New Cerebral Palsy Article Site

For those who don’t know, my little sister has quadriplegic cerebral palsy. She was born CP and a multitude of other problems, and spent the first few months of her life in intensive care at Riley Children’s Hospital in Indianapolis.

She’s 13 now, and still struggling with the effects of the disease. She has endured many months in hospital intensive care and many surgeries. She has recently had a rod placed in her spine to help correct the curvature caused by the constant pressure from her hypertonic muscles. She’s had similar surgeries on her hips.

She’s a little trooper, and much smarter than an outsider would ever imagine. The constant spasms and tightness in her muscles don’t allow her to communicate normally. She can say some words, but it has taken her a long time to get there. You can see the frustration on her face when she has something to share, but can’t let anyone know it. She’s a little teenage girl bursting to jabber on and on, but she just can’t say what she wants.

I love my sister dearly, and would do anything I can to help. In an effort to better educate myself and others about this terrible disease, I have put up a new website at www.cerebral-palsy-articles.com. The plan is to gather as much information as possible about cerebral palsy, its symptoms, its treatments, and the effects of the disease, and post articles to this site to get the information out.

Although there is not much there now, I hope you will take a look and check back often for progress.

As always, thanks for reading.
